Cigarette sales increased to 6.2bn sticks in April from 5.7bn in January and 5.9bn in March. All major players noted an increase in turnover except for Reemtsma Polska. BAT Polska and Philip Morris noted increases in sales on a month by month basis of around eight percent.
It is also bad news when compared to the first four months of last year. Last year just over 22bn sticks were sold compared to almost 23.2bn this year
