Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Private clothes and textile producers need over 5,000 employees. They get big orders but are unable to realise them.
The representatives of the Association of Private Employers of Clothes and Textile Producers, Polish companies lost EUR 150m of orders annually because they have too few employees. In the last 2-3 years, 10,000 sewers lost their jobs or left because they chose so. The reasons included low wages, lack of orders and fear that Far East companies would win the market.
“Black scenarios of Chinese clothes flooding the market caused mass firings and plant closing. Forecasts were failed, fortunately, because you cannot sew everything in Asia. Polish companies have a lot of orders, all they need are people ready to work”, Boguslaw Slaby, the CEO of the association said.
There are over 5,000 jobs waiting for people in
over 600 plants. In order to encourage young people to work in this sector,
sewers will be provided training system, a film promoting the job will be
published in order to show that Polish sewers work for international brands,
including Burberry, Escada or Hugo Boss.
