Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Capital Partners signed agreement with Gazprom for LNG delivery. PGNiG’s market gets smaller.

On December 20th, CP Energia, the gas distributor owned in 50 percent by Capital Partners, signed agreement with Gazexport to sell over 1.3m cubic meters of gas or 1,000 tons of LNG. Kriogaz is the producer of the gas. Gazprom is the only company capable of selling LNG so its subsidiary Gazesport takes part in the transaction. Gazprom is the main deliverer of natural gas to Poland. The gas is imported by PGNiG. In 2005, 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered to Poland while 13.5 billion cubic meters were used.

The agreement between CP Energia and Gazexport provides for the first half of 2007. There is an option to prolong it.

“We want to make use of this option”, Marcin Buczkowski, CP Energia CEO said.

CP Energia has 100 km of gas network. In 2006, it sold 13m cubic meters of gas. Next year, it plans to sell 40-50m cubic meters. The company is also buying gas from PGNiG. It is Poland’s second company to buy gas from Russia.
