Credit agency growing
The credit information biuro (BIK) now has information on almost eight million borrowers. Around one thousand enquiries are made each day on credit histories for new clients.
Biuro Informacji Kredytowej was born more than four years ago although it only opened for business eleven months ago. Most of the banks now provide and receive information from it although two of the biggest Polish banks, Pekao SA and BIG BG, do not. However both banks should be working within the system before long. BIG BG has particular reason to do so. Its portfolio of bad debts is the largest in the sector and now has exceeded 19 percent.
