Doing the deed
The system of title deeds which are held by the courts is designed to work by 2006 through a centralised computer system. The justice ministry is currently working on the details of the system and information will be entered onto it as from 2003. The cost of introducing this system will be around EUR53m and the EU, through the PHARE project will contribute EUR12m.
Experts think that this system will considerably simplfy and speeden the process of issuing title deeds. Currently there is a waiting list of several months, and in the case of large cities, it is measured in years.
