E.ON.edis energia, a member of E.ON Energie group, which is already operating on the heat market, wants to win the natural gas distribution market and sell LNG. E.ON edis energia acquired gas company Anco which sells 6m cubic meters of gas and has 700 clients. Anco will get support from CP Energia. On August 28th, CP Energia, PL Energia and E.ON edist energia signed agreement to distribute LNG. Before, PL Energia bought from E.ON Energie an installation allowing it to produce 1m cubic meters of LNG annually. CP Energia is going to acquire the plant. Thanks to the installation, CP Energia will be able to start LNG production in Poland as early as next year. Today, Poland’s only LNG producer is PGNiG with 10.7m cubic tons of output.
Private companies with plans to operate in Poland, may in practice buy gas from PGNiG only. If they import, they are required to store reserves and PGNiG is the only owner of gas storages in Poland. The companies have found a solution: LNG installations are treated as gas storages. That’s why foreign companies launching operations on the Polish market sell LNG first.
