Electric telephone coming soon
Connecting telephone services via electricity lines is based on PLC technology which is not yet available commercially. Nonetheless this has not stopped Pattern Communications (PC) from seeing a bright future for this type of technology.
The producers of this technology, Main.Net and Ascom, were planning on starting production this month. Unfortunately it did not happen although this does not worry Marcin Bodnar, MD and part owner of PC.
Bodnar believes that if production is not delayed too much then by the end of next year his company could have as many as 5,000 clients in the entire country and by the end of the following year this figure could be three times higher. Bodnar still does not know exactly how much it will cost to link up one subscriber although thinks that it could be around USD400. If correct, this would be a very competitive price to those offered by conventional operators opening up markets from those people who cannot currently be connected for reasons of where they live but also those that want to change operator.© ℗
