EU paying for border
Brussels has agreed to fork out around EUR32m on improving PolandÃs eastern border. The money will be used to making the border more airtight and improving frontier crossings.
The border crossings that the EU is to support are at Kuznica Bialostocka, Hrebenne and Terespol. This will take up EUR15m. The same amount again is to improve border defences whilst EUR2m is to be used to help local border communities.
Before Warsaw can get its hands on the money, both sides must sign a financial memorandum. All formalities must be completed before the end of the year, thus delaying the tender process for the projects.
