Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Dutch financial and insurance group is withdrawing its representatives to avoid further problems from the Ministry of the Treasure.
Since November 1st, the managements of PZU and PZU Zycie, the two main companies of the group, and Poland’s biggest insurance companies as well, will operate with reduced managements. Eureko decided that Piotr Kowalczewski, the deputy CEO of PZU and Joyce Deriga, the member of PZU board, would be suspended. Magdalena Nawloka and Ineke Banus, the deputy CEOs of PZU Zycie, submitted their resignations. Eureko is going to pay their wages.
“We have made such decision because we cannot expose our representatives to the threat of bad treatment in PZU group. We also don’t want to be connected with what’s going on in these companies. Since November 1st, the responsibility is of the Ministry of the Treasure only”, Ernst Jansen, Eureko deputy CEO and PZU deputy chairman explained.
He mentions the fact that highly qualified specialists are recalled from PZU, and the employees are threatened with alleged suits filed to the prosecutor’s office. The Ministry of the Treasure probably planned to remove Eureko representatives from the supervisory boards of the companies.
“The privatization agreement signed in 2001 is being broken”, Ernst Jansen said.
