Last year the six car crediting companies which are called autobanks and operated by the vehicles concerns themselves, signed a total of 54,100 contracts worth PLN1.2bn.

In 2000 the banks signed 65,100 contracts for PLN60m more than in 2001.

The now two year depression in the Polish car market has had its effects on the results of the banks with the exception of Volkswagen Bank Polska which has managed to increase business by thirty percent in value and twenty percent in number of contracts.

It has overtaken FIAT Bank Polska for the number one slot.

DaimlerChrysler Polska and Toyota Bank Polska also saw growth but given that they both were founded in 2000 this is not surprising.
