Zdzislaw Montkiewicz, the MD of insurance giant PZU, has announced that his company will sell around 100 subsidiaries that are not part of its core business. However this may prove to be easier said than done. Many of the subsidiaries are unprofitable, having been bought by its assurance arm when it was under different, politically inspired, management. Due to the financial incompetance of that management PZU Zycie was forced last year to open a reserve of PLN400m.
