Hospital building plan this week
This week representatives of a Polish and Italian consortium will meet to decide how to go forward with a PLN2bn plan to build new hospitals. The Sava Investment Group claims that it wants to build 15 new hospitals. The investors believe that the cost of one bed will be between USD90,000 — USD150,000. This would suggest that around USD30m is needed for each hospital. It is hoped to have four hospitals built by the end of next year. The first unit will be built in Warsaw. Other sites will be decided upon this week, although eastern Poland is not likely to be a first choice. The company believes that it is better to build from scratch as renovating or converting existing facilities is rarely worthwhile. UniCredito Italiano will be financing the project although other financial backers are being sought.
