Ikea invests PLN 3.5 billion

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Ikea has invested PLN 2.5 billion (EUR 643.5m) for 15 years. In the upcoming five years, it is going to spend much more in Poland.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Ikea has invested PLN 2.5 billion (EUR 643.5m) for 15 years. In the upcoming five years, it is going to spend much more in Poland.

Ikea is not solely a furniture producer, it also invests in shopping malls with complementary products including exclusive furniture, home appliances and RTV products as well as sports equipment. A new park comprising of furniture shops, supermarkets and restaurants was launched yesterday. The investment will amount to PLN 300m. Inter Ikea owns 2.6m square meters of land in big cities. It wants to have over 500,000 square meters till the year 2008.

“We will build 330,000 square meters of new objects. We will spend PLN 3.5 billion”, Per-Arne Hubinette, the managing director of Inter Ikea Centre Polska said.

In the years 1990-2004, the company invested PLN 2.5 billion to build 187,000 square meters of shopping malls.
