A consortium of financial institutions built up by ING Bank Slaski could take the LOT shares current held by Swissair provided that the Swiss are prepared to swallow their losses and accept a price in the order of EUR216m. There is also said to be another banking consortium pursuing a similar aim in acquiring the stake in the Polish air carrier. Analysts consider that the eventual buyer of this stock could be British Airways which is closely associated with ING.
