Insurance for the poor

Moje Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeniowe (MTU), a new insurer within the Ergo Hestia group, will commence business at the beginning of July. Its target clients are people earning under PLN1,600 per month in small towns of less than 100,000 inhabitants. It will have only three products aimed at insuring cars, homes and businesses. Its perceived advantages are customer friendly forms and low price.

As far as the company is concerned, the advantages of this product are keeping administration costs down, they are aimed at being around five percent the cost of premiums. This will be possible as the firm will not have a sales network.

The company was unwilling to say how quickly it expects MTU to grow nor how much it cost to set the business up. However it is using the call centre and other infrastructure of the Hestia group, without which it could not function.
