IT pushes down index
Wednesday’s stock market session was marked by falls, following what happened on Tuesday on the Nasdaq. The fate of high-tech companies in the USA was shared by the IT sector which has a very strong influence on all the major indexes. Towards the end of the day bargain hunters stepped in to take up what they obviously considered to be cheap shares but even so it was not enough to recover the earlier losses.
