Keeping their beer money
Carlsberg’s attempt to increase its stake in brewer Okocim may succeed but not without difficulty The generous one third over the current market price being offered by the Danes was not enough to convince organisations like Investment Fund for Central and Eastern Europe which has a 7.3 percent stake in the brewer. The industrial development agency ARP also decided to keep its 7.6 stake as did the treasury which has a 2.5 percent shareholding. Nonetheless Carlsberg was claiming that it had obtained a 75 percent stake in Okocim.
Okocim is the third best selling brewer in Poland after the Żywiec group and Kompania Piwowarska. In the first five months of this year it sold 65m litres of beer.© ℗
