Markets fall

In a week dominated by telecoms stock it was perhaps appropriate that another fall in the value of TPSA shares should have been one of the motors to pull down the market again. TPSA lost 5.6 percent taking it to new record lows, traders clearly ignoring a possible offer from France Telecom to take more shares which is expected tomorrow.

The WIG20 closed 0.6 percent down at 1,182.4 whilst the WIG lost 0.7 percent to 13,129 points. Thirty nine shares went up in value whilst 48 lost ground.

Other than TPSA, losers included Bank Zachodni — WBK which took a six percent drop and Mitex which lost 4.1 percent.

One of the best climbers of the day was foodstuffs producer Agros which saw an 8.2 percent increase in its stock.

August is of course the month with the historic lowest turnover. On Friday turnover was PLN193.9m.
