TietoEnator, a company listed in Stockholm and Helsinki, and one of the biggest companies offering services to the IT sector in Europe with such clients as Nokia, Siemens or SonyEricson, employs Polish specialists as well. The company has 263 employees in Wroclaw and 262 ones in Szczecin and plans to employ 250 more in each of the offices.
“We’ve got a promise of a subsidy of PLN 5.6m (EUR 1.6m). The whole investment is evaluated at PLN 60-70m. We will employ even more people. In 2012, we would like to have 1,200 people”, Ireneusz Miski, TietoEnator head for Poland, the Czech Republic and Belarus said.
The Wroclaw office makes software for Nokia and SonyEricsson. The Szczecin office has just signed a contract with a deliverer of a car maker to prepare systems allowing to show car-maps, traffic signs, etc. on the windshields. The Polish unit is part of the media and telecommunications department employing 5,500 people worldwide. TietoEnator has four more departments and employs 17,000 altogether. In Poland, the company appeared in 2006 when it acquired RTS Networks in Szczecin, a company founded by Szczecin Technical University professor. In Wroclaw, it bought BenqSiemens unit. Its sales grew from PLN 17m in 2006 to PLN 42m last year. This year, the company forecasts PLN 60m of sales.
