Panic selling in Europe followed yet another bad session on the New York stock exchanges which took them to a four year low. France lost more than four percent and Germany more than five percent. Losses in Europe have been far greater than those in the USA.

In Warsaw the WIG lost 2.8 percent to fall to 12,748 points and the WIG20 dropped 3.3 percent to 1,061 points. The new technologies subindex, the TechWIG, fell to its all time low losing more than five percent.

Some examples of the losses from Wednesdayís trading: PKN Orlen 4.1 percent, Prokom 4.6 percent, TPSA five percent, BRE Bank five percent and Elektrim 5.6 percent.
