Shares retreat

Shares retreated slightly yesterday with the WIG20 falling to 1,011 points and the WIG losing 0.5 percent to fall to 11,744 points.

Turnover was only PLN133m and 37 stocks increased in value whilst 58 fell.

It was a good day for food products group Agros which saw the value of its stock increase by 14.5 percent. Not so good for metals company Stalexport which lost 21.2 percent nor telecommunications firm Szeptel which lost 12.9 percent on news that an investor would not be taking a larger stake. For internet based companies it was also very bad with Interia losing 12.9 percent and Hoga down 9.4 percent. The worst loss, especially when considering performance last month, was that of Wrocław based IT distributor and main investor in the yoyo portal , STGroup, which fell by more than twenty percent. It is now thought that the risk that the company could go bankrupt is getting greater.
