Stocks rebound strongly

The Warsaw stock market continued to be strong for the second day running noting a 2.4 percent increase in the WIG20 index which took it to 1,067 points and almost four percent up since Monday.

The surge was led by telecoms shares with Elektrim noting an increase of more than five percent to take it to PLN19.50 and TPSA which noted a 4.5 percent increase to PLN11.65.

Nonetheless turnover was low at PLN180m and it is clear that many are waiting to see which way the wind will blow. With the international situation not at all clear and the general election on Sunday traders may be adopting a wait and see attitude. To make matters worse New York was falling at the time of writing over worries on the US economy. So optimism may be yet a little early.
