There has been yet another drama in the story of the PLN500m tender to produce a billing system for telephone operator TPSA. The company wants the system running by the end of 2002 which means that a decision must be made within the next couple of weeks and by the end of next month at the very latest.

It is suggested however that TPSA might have another idea. It is clear that a PLN500m price tag could be too high in current market conditions.

Therefore it is suggested that a system may be devised only for business clients which would come much cheaper. A similar option could be taken in the case of the customer relations management (CRM) system where the tender was annulled when it was down to the final two contenders and a shorter version was awarded to a consortium of Sofrecom, Prokom and PWC. Sofrecom and Prokom are also the favourites to complete the billing system.
