The telecoms watchdog Urzad Regulacji Telekomunikacji is about to complete a report on internet telecommunications VoIP. There are now several companies interested in providing this service in this country.

The VoIP market is believed to worth USD62.5m this year, last year it was considered to be worth USD25m.

However it seems as though the URT could declare that VoIP is voice communications meaning that TPSA will keep its monopoly on international services until next year. The URT did not wish to comment on what its findings may be before they are released officially. If this rumour turns out to be true then it is a clear victory for TPSA to maintain its monopoly and means that any other international provider is working illegally. The decision also means that TPSA will maintain high prices for another year while it still can.
