WIG20 falls down, contrary to the trends in Europe

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Environment was good for the stock to rise but the Warsaw Stock Exchange ended down.  

WIG20 started the day 1 percent up but in subsequent hours it kept falling and ended at 3,425.08 points or 0.2 percent down. Western European stock markets were growing, the Wall Street opened up but the Polish indices did not follow the upward trend. No wonder: politicians mingle in economics again. Wojciech Jasinski, the Minister of the Treasure said that KGHM could buy a stake of PLL LOT airline from the bankruptcy officer. The stock of the copper producer shed 2.6 percent to PLN 89 while shares worth PLN 145m changed hands.  

Two foreign companies were the best performers among blue chips. MOL and CEZ added about 2.5 percent each. Bioton was the worst performer, the stock dropped 4.2 percent to PLN 2.07, the lowest level since the end of December. TVN media group continued falls. Today the stock decreased 3.7 percent. Last Friday, the stock rose to its all-time record of PLN 28.3.
