WIG20 sheds 0.94 percent this week

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index fell to 2,033.63 points on Friday, or 1.52 percent. This week, the index of blue chips shed 0.94 percent. The decrease was surprising because bullish moods were prevailing on the Wall Street after Intel optimistic estimates for the first quarter. The Polish currency was strengthening.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index fell to 2,033.63 points on Friday, or 1.52 percent. This week, the index of blue chips shed 0.94 percent. The decrease was surprising because bullish moods were prevailing on the Wall Street after Intel optimistic estimates for the first quarter. The Polish currency was strengthening.

Two companies dragged the market down, including Pekao bank (-3.9 percent) and PKN Orlen fuel giant (-3 percent). As far as the latter company is concerned, shares worth PLN 150 m (EUR 37.9 m) changed hands. Among smaller companies, Bauma continued increases. Prochem, which said it had signed contract worth PLN 64.55 m added 5 percent. FAM rose after it increased a 27.7 percent stake in Mostostal Wroclaw.
