The protests by Strabag and Hochtief about unfair treatment during the tender for the reconstruction of the Warsaw Okecie airport have been refused. The winning consortium of Budimex, Ferrovial and Estudio Lamela made an offer considerably lower than that of the two losers.

Strabag continues to claim that the winning offer was much worse than theirs and that the tender commission made many mistakes. It says that it may take the issue to court.

Strabag put a price of USD280m on its work whilst Budimex offered almost USD80m less. This seems to have been the deciding factor.

The tender commission rejected the offer of Hochtief for what it termed formal reasons. It claimed that forms were incorrectly signed amongst other irregularities. Hochtief has announced a press conference for today.
