Malgorzata Krasnodebska-Tomkiel, the CEO of UOKiK, has launched investigation
to check whether Cyfrowy Polsat, the satellite platform of Zygmunt Solorz-Zak,
is breaking the law when it limits the public broadcasting of Euro 2008. Polsat
is the only owner of rights to broadcast all matches in Poland. It agreed for
cinemas, pubs or hotels to show the matches provided that they buy the rights
and Cyfrowy Polsat’s decoder (despite the fact that the latter is not necessary
as all matches are also broadcast at Polsat – which is available freely). The
proceedings should be concluded within 30 days. If the allegations are true, an
antimonopoly proceeding will be launched.

Warsaw (Puls biznesu) – Polish antimonopoly authorities UOKiK is going to check whether the satellite platform is infringing the law by limiting the rights to publicly broadcast matches played at Euro 2008.
