Arthur Andersen to advise PKP

Arthur Andersen has been chosen to advise state rail operator PKP in the sell off of the local rail operators in Warsaw (WKD) and Gdansk (SKM). The privatisation could begin in the summer.

The two companies have been officially made independent of the PKP and their deeds of association have been issue. They now await the approval of the transport ministry to begin business. They should have this permit within a couple of months.

Letters of intent have been received from Rail Polska together with Polski Express and BRE Leasing, SNCF International, VIA-GTI, MVV Polska, ADtranz, SJ International, Serco Rail, Connex Polska and Alstom in the privatisation of WKD. It could be assumed that the same companies would also be interested in the SKM.
