Centralwings says goodbye to low-cost operations

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The subsidiary of LOT flag carrier will soon stop selling tickets and in the middle of September, it will stop low-cost operations. Several dozens people will be fired.

Centralwings has said it would stop its low-cost business. The decision has been made to do it within two weeks.

“It will happen on September 14th or 16th”, PB source said.

In upcoming days the company which last year had over PLN 63m (EUR 18.8m) of loss, will stop selling its tickets. Yesterday, a meeting with employees was held and today a press conference is being organized. Several dozens people will be fired.

“This is just a fraction of all employees. There are about 100 people in administration and over 300 people of flying staff. The majority of the employees will stay within LOT group”, Kamil Wnuk, Centralwings spokesman said.

The airline will focus on charter flights.
