Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development wants to invest in the stadium. It is said to submit its offer within two weeks.
EBRD is interested in the project of the national stadium, to be built on the site where the X-anniversary Stadium is located.
“We have met EBRD representatives last week and presented the project. We are expecting an official note within two weeks”, Alex Kloszewski from Colliers International engaged in the new project said.
He refused to say how much funds would the bank spent on the project. According to preliminary estimates, the whole complex, comprising stadium, hotel, conference rooms, shopping mall, etc. will cost EUR 820m.
“The tender to build the object will be announced within several weeks. EBRD will then have a chance to submit its offer officially”, Pawel Wisniewski, the spokesman of the Ministry of Sports said.
The Ministry said that the stadium will be built whether UEFA chooses Poland to organize Euro 2012 or not. Construction works could be started in late 2006 and last 45 months. The Warsaw stadium is one of six stadiums to be used during the championships.
