Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Despite falls noted by the Warsaw Stock Exchange in March, the Poles paid record PLN 5.1 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) in investment funds.

In January, PLN 3.9 billion was paid into funds. It looked like the record would be hard to beat. In February, only PLN 3 billion was spent on funds in Poland. However, according to “PB” estimates, funds raised PLN 5.1 billion in March.

“The dive of the stock market was deep but short-term so investors had no time to react to it”, Marek Mikuc, the investment director of TFI Allianz said.

“The clients are relatively experienced. They have survived several breakdowns in the last years and learnt that even big losses are quickly made up for by funds”, Cezary Burzynski, PZU TFI deputy CEO added.

The four leading funds raised most funds, including Pioneer Pekao (PLN 986m), PKO (PLN 718m), BZ WBK (PLN 624m) and ING (PLN 570m). In the first quarter of this year, the Poles paid PLN 11.9 billion in the funds.
