Trade unions from the G8 power group yesterday invited observers from their head offices to sit with representatives of Elektrim and Jan Kulczyk for talks on the social package to be agreed in the sell off. Unfortunately no agreement was reached.

Local union representatives are now hoping for a national reaction given that treasury minister Wiesław Kaczmarek has given the green light for the sale despite disputes over the social package.

It would appear that the deal the unions have been offered includes three year job security and seven percent pay rise depending on profits. There is no privatisation bonus and the purchase of employee owned shares is significantly lower than the price offered to the treasury which is rumoured to be USD512m for a 25 percent share.
