Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In three months, modernization of the road between Poznan and Nowy Tomysl will be launched. The highway was built only 4 years ago.

Autostrada Wielkopoksa (AW), the company operating A2 highway, will invest in a new section: Nowy Tomysl-Swiecko. Till the end of August, necessary negotiations will be held with the government on this issue. Before, however, the company starts building a new road, it must correct the section it built four years ago. The general inspectorate for national roads and highways GDDKiA said that A2 highway is already cracked although it has been used for four years only.

“The problems will be soon removed. NCC, the company which built the section, will pay for it”, Zofia Kwiatkowska, AW spokeswoman said.

The cracks are caused by technological mistakes during construction works but also by the fact that the van traffic was much higher than planned. In 2005, fees paid by lorry drivers were levied. Instead, they would buy special passes and received compensation from the government.
