The Stalowa Wola steel works (HSW), the largest military manufacturer in this country, is opposed to further consolidation in the sector as it believes that orders will be hit. Instead it believes the government should be placing orders for hardware which in turn would generate export orders from countries such as India and Brazil.

Huta Stalowa Wola employs nearly 10,000 people and in the military field is largely concerned with armour and artillery, making, for example, the Brave Heart 155mm self propelled howitzer along with BAE.

The deadline for bids in the tender to be the privatisation advisor in the sale of HSW will pass on 19 December.
