Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The biggest brewery operating in Poland stops acquisitions in the country. This is, however, not the end of its expansion.

Kompania Piwowarska (KP) owned by SABMiller acquired Browar Belgia in Kielce on January 8th.

“Till the end of March, we want to conclude operational integration of the brewery within the group. We will continue production of Wojak and Gingers beers. We are wondering what to do with Frater brand. Weaker brands, including Lemon, will be withdrawn”, Dieter Schulze, KP general director said.

KP plans to increase capacity of its new plant to 4m hl of beer annually. The facility will be developed till the year 2010.

Having acquired Browar Belgia, KP has over 40 percent of the Polish market share. This means that it cannot buy any other brewery in Poland.

“This was our last acquisition in Poland. We now have 4 breweries which provide enough capacity. In three of them, we may still increase capacity”, Dieter Schulze said.

KP is number one on the market of medium price beer. Now it wants to fight for the first place on the premium beer market.
