Aleksander Grad, the minister of the treasury, is convinced that energy companies will have successful IPOs.
“The energy sector companies listed on the stock exchange did not see decreases at the level noted by other sectors. Investors are looking forward to see state-owned companies from this branch on the WSE”, Aleksander Grad said in an interview for the Polish Press Agency.
As early as in October, Enea will be listed. PGE on the other hand will appear on the WSE early next year. The second stage of the privatization will also take place next year and will consist in selling state-owned stakes to an investor.
Two coal mines will be privatized, including Konin and Adamow. Tauron energy group may be listed in 2010 while Energa may not be listed at all.
“I will propose to sell Energa to a strategic investor. Before, it should conduct some acquisitions and investments”, Aleksander Grad believed.
It remains uncertain whether LOT will be listed.
“We must answer the question whether the crisis in the airline business will continue or will be a short-term one. If it is to last longer, we may need to look for a different solution how to privatize LOT, including selling it to an investor”, the minister added.
Meanwhile, the ministry signed contract to sell its remaining shares of Pekao
bank to UniCredit. No decision has been made concerning the remaining stake of
TP telecom which is of interest to France Telecom. The ministry may sell part of
PKO BP bank’s shares but does not want to have less than 30 percent of them.
