Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Ministry of Finance has announced a tender to offer data transmission services. TP has the biggest chances to win.

The Ministry of Finance will choose a company which for the next four years will take care of internet connections between the ministry and 700 subsidies, including duty and tax offices. The tender was announced last week and it’s worth about PLN 156m (EUR 42.3m). TP telecom has the biggest chances to win the contract. To TP, such an agreement will be just one of many contracts. To its rivals, this would be a big deal and they will fight hard to win it. But they say it won’t be easy.

“The tender is open but numerous provisions are advantageous for TP and not for its rivals. Our chances are small. The ministry deprives itself of the chance to choose the best offer”, a representative of one of the companies said.

The ministry allows to offer old equipment. TP is currently rendering services to the ministry and it may offer its own equipment while rivals will have to spend PLN 10-20m more for new elements. Besides, the ministry requires to describe technology which will be used while experts say that this may make it difficult for TP rivals to make the offer.

A similar tender was announced by the ministry last year. The tender was cancelled because deadlines were not possible to be met. In result TP received a 2-year contract.
