The industrial development agency Agencja Rozwoju Przemyslu has signed a letter of intent with the Japanese Nichimen with a view to developing the transport terminal at Slawkow in southern Poland. The Japanese company is interested in financing the construction of the terminal which it hopes to use in the future. Nichimen is also hoping to make contact with other logistics operators which may be interested in the terminal. It is believed the value of the investment could be between USD150m -USD200m. The Slawkow terminal will be located on a wide guage track as used in the countries of the former USSR. It therefore can link Poland with Vladivostok and everywhere else in between. This project also interests the Polish rail carrier PKP which is the owner of the land. However there is already a competitor to the project in Bohumin in the Czech Republic.
