Only one index failed to hit its record on the WSE today

The WIG20 index hit its record as of December 18th by 8.1 percent. The 20 share blue chips index added 3.5 percent. WIG rose 2.9 percent to its new record of 53,853.2 points. MIDWIG gained 1.7 percent but it was its tenth consecutive day of growth, in the period the stock has gained 12.6 percent. The volume of trade on the WSE amounted to PLN 3.706 billion and was the highest in the 16-year-long history of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The volume of trade would have been much lower hadn’t it been for TP telecom. Two transactions worth PLN 598m and PLN 402m were conducted today. Shares of TP worth PLN 1.23 billion changed hands today, 47 percent of the trade generated by all blue chips and 33 percent of the trade on the whole market. The following blue chips did not follow the upward trend: TP, Netia, Agora and Bioton. BRE Bank hit its record for the second consecutive day. The stock jumped 9.3 percent to PLN 417.
