Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Computerland (CL), Poland’s IT company, is very close to obtaining a PLN 220 m (EUR 52.4 m) worth contract to build border protection system. Only its consortium, comprising also of Siemens, has been allowed to take part in the second phase of the tender.

This is a big surprise as seven consortia were to be chosen, but 11 offers were rejected, including those of Alcatel, EADS, Ericsson or Prokom (Poland’s biggest IT company). Unless any of the losers protests, Computerland may win the contract as it will have no competition in the second phase of the tender.

Border services are one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Schengen Fund, which will give Poland over EUR 300 m to adjust to EU standards. They will also order equipment and IT services.
