Unexpectedly, the police may be added to the list of beneficiaries of the operating program innovative economy, “PB” sources say. The police have applied for a grant for four IT projects worth PLN 500m (EUR 150.1m). According to “PB” data, it’s almost certain that they will get PLN 165m to build IT network connected with 112 number. On-line services will appear on the reserve list. The ministry of internal affairs supervises the bills but final decision will be made by the ministry of regional development.
“We may spend EUR 788m for IT projects”, Wioletta Paprocka, the spokeswoman of the ministry of internal affairs said.
The project connected with 112 number should be ready till the year 2010 and be used to support EURO2012. The ministry estimates it will cost PLN 250m. The second project is a communication platform with on-line services. Its value is estimated at PLN 100m. Tools to conducted on-line tenders, submit applications and claims will be implemented in this project. Police management and service systems worth jointly PLN 250m have smaller chances for EU funds.
Today, the biggest projects realized in the same project include the healthcare register system worth PLN 800m and the new ID system worth PLN 400m. Witold Drozdz, deputy minister of internal affairs, has recently said in an interview for “PB” that administration will spend PLN 14bn for IT projects within four years.
