The Polish Post has signed agreements for fuel delivery till the end of 2007. Controversial J&S company will earn over PLN 400m (EUR 105.1m).

The Polish Post has signed agreements for fuel delivery till the end of 2007. Controversial J&S company will earn over PLN 400m (EUR 105.1m).

There were three winners in the tender for fuel for Poczta Polska (PP), including Orlen Morena from the capital group of PKN Orlen (PLN 119.9m worth of contract), Maante (PLN 64.8m) and J&S Energy (PLN 404m). Agreements were signed a month ago.

“It is strange that PP management should choose a company which raised so many business and political controversies. I hope they have arguments to choose the offer”, Pawel Poncyljusz, PiS MP and the deputy head of the parliamentary commission of the Treasure, said.

“We won the tender because our offer was the lowest”, Marta Dobkowska-Kapusta, J&S Energy spokeswoman said.

In February, the headquarters of J&S Energy in Warsaw were controlled by ABW, the state special department. The prosecutor supervising the investigation of the fuel mafia decided about the control. J&S Group delivers nearly half of oil refined in Polish companies. The company was founded by two Russian musicians: Wiaczeslaw Smolokowski and Grzegorz Jankilewicz, which have had the Polish citizenship since 1993. According to unofficial sources, J&S had USD 10 billion of sales and USD 100m of net income in 2004. The tender for PP was announced in February 2005. 12 companies, including Shell, too part in it. There were many applies that’s why agreements were signed only recently.
