Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Adam Glapinski, CEO of Polkomtel telecom controlled by, among others, Vodavone, TDC and state-owned KGHM, PKN Orlen, will be dismissed. British telecom may increase its role in the company.

At the upcoming meeting of the supervisory board of Polkomtel, to be held on May 13th, Adam Glapinski, the CEO connected with the previous government, may be dismissed.

“His dismissal is certain. The question is if it happens at the upcoming meeting”, a person from Polkomtel said.

This is going to be the second attempt of the present government to dismiss the CEO. Before, the ministry of the treasure did not have enough support. Now it has ‘its’ people in the supervisory board. In addition, the state may be supported by Vodafone.

The company asked the minister of the treasure for a meeting. According to “PB” sources, it is going to take place between May 6th and 13th.

“We never comment on private meetings. All I can say is that Polkomtel is well managed and we are satisfied with it”, Mike Percy from Vodafone’s press office said.

According to “PB” sources, the British company will want to discuss the appointment of the CFO. It also wants to talk about the arbitrage proceeding held in Vienna. At the end of March, the court made decision concerning the sale of Polkomtel’s stake by TDC which would decrease Vodafone’s role in the company. Vodafone may delay the transaction.

The ministry may make decision which will be advantageous for Vodafone. It may allow the British telecom to increase its stake to over 25 percent after TDC sells its shares. It may let it buy a stake from PKN Orlen or list Polkomtel on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
