Ponar goes to Kopex owner

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Kopex owner will take over the producer of hydraulic systems. He will buy shares form Miroslaw Kalicki who criticizes Ponar.

Two famous investors have signed agreement concerning Ponar, the producer of hydraulic systems from Wadowice. Leszek Jedrzejewski, the main shareholder of mining and energy group Kopex, will buy 9.99 percent of shares from Miroslaw Kalicki from FAM holding. According to “PB” sources, he will soon increase his stake. Another well-known investor, Zbigniew Jakubas, was interested in gaining power in Ponar.

“We treat Mr. Jedrzejwski as a strategic investor. His Kopex is an important buyer of our products”, Arkadiusz Sniezko, Ponar’s CEO said.

Ponar stock has been fluctuating recently. In the mid of May it dropped to its low of PLN 3.13 (EUR 0.9). Yesterday, it jumped 13.1 percent to PLN 4.14. The stock may be adversely affected, however, by what Miroslaw Kalicki withdrawing from the company said.

“As the member of Ponar’s supervisory board I had a chance to look at the group’s present situation. The results are worrying and show that the economic risk is high while potential return on investment not that promising. It’s very probable that it will negatively influence future financial results”, Miroslaw Kalicki said.
