Within four years, Poland is supposed to become an IT power. Online tax and car registration services, electronic offices for companies, and IDs with e-signature are to become standard in Poland. Unless it all fails again, in which case Poland will have to compete with Romania and Bulgaria for the last place in Europe regarding IT development.
Today, Poland closes rankings of countries with best developed IT systems. All this is supposed to change. How?
“Thanks to PLN 14bn to be spent in IT systems by administration. These are EU funds. This is a great chance, Poland will probably never more obtain such a cash injections for new technologies. If we spend these money properly, we will change Poland”, Witold Drozdz believed.
He said that works will be launched connected with several big IT projects in the second half of the year. They include the system of medical registration worth PLN 950m which is supposed to eliminate frauds in the health system and reduce its costs, ID card system worth PLN 385m which provides for an ID with e-signature and data collected in electronic chip and e-taxes, a system worth PLN 250m supposed to make it possible to send tax reports by e-mail. The so called E-PUAP2 system should enable to apply for a passport, register and make different formalities online. The value of this project is estimated at PLN 147m. Another project is PLN 90m system of evidence of lots and premises. So far, Poland has spent PLN 450m on this system.
