Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Marek Mazur, who was chosen the CEO of LOT flag carrier yesterday, has lots to worry about because the Ministry of the Treasure (MSP) is wondering how to fire him.

Marek Mazur unexpectedly won the war to become LOT CEO. He joined the process in the eleventh hour. In he past, he was LOT chairman. Tomasz Dembski, the candidate of MSP and the temporary CEO for the last three months, and Jaroslaw Lazurko supported by the bankruptcy officer of Swiss and the employees, lost the fight. MSP is not going to let the things go like that. In the statement issued yesterday evening, the Ministry suggests that adding a new candidate so late could be against the law. The Ministry does not exclude a renewed proceeding to choose the CEO.

MSP would like LOT to be listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange at the end of this year. The company is currently selling non-core assets, including a stake of Pekao bank worth PLN 780m (EUR 199.1m). The funds will be spent to pay the first installment for new airplanes. LOT is also planning to launch new routes to Far East countries and sell a stake in Centralwings, its low-cost carrier.
