Tchibo coffee increases production in Poland

Poland: Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Tchibo Warszawa, the Polish unit of the German coffee producer Tchibo, is enlarging its plant in Marki, near Warsaw.

We are building a new production hall. In January, we will install there a line to package instant coffee in jars. The line will be moved there from the Czech plant which is being closed, Tomasz Domagalski, Tchibo Warszawa operating director said.The new plant will start production in February. The investment is worth PLN 6m (EUR 1.5m).The investment will increase the role of the Polish unit.In 2006, our sales and exports will increase substantially. Instant coffee from Marki will be sold to many European markets, including the Czech, Slovakian, Hungarian and Romanian ones, Tomasz Domagalski added.Tchibo’s largest rival in Poland is Elite Cafe which has recently acquired MK Cafe brand. In 2004, Tchibo had PLN 434m of sales.(PLN 1 = EUR 0.254)
