Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - The Polish telecommunication authorities URTiP fined TP telecom for te second time in four years. TP should pay PLN 10m (EUR 2.5m) because it failed to merge network with cable operator TeleNet Mielec, today Multimedia Polska.

Because for many months no agreements were made concerning the cooperation, the alternative operator could not develop, Witold Grabos, URTiP CEO explained.

The authorities ruled in the middle of 2003 to merge the networks. Since September 2003 till May 2004, the parties held negotiations. With no results. URTiP's control proved that while Multimedia did its utmost, TP did not merge the networks. The telcom may appeal as it did before, when it was fined with PLN 1m in 2002 because it failed to merge networks with Netia Telecom Lublin.

(PLN 1 = EUR 0.250)
