Poland: Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - IT companies may be dissappointed with the news that the tender to build network for CEPiK car and drivers IT register system has been cancelled. Works will not start this year as planned before. The tende  has been lasting for over 1.5 year now. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MSWiA) responsible for the tender explained that fewer than one binding offer was submitted. At least two were necessary.

Meanwhile, several IT companies have submitted their offers - all of them amounted to PLN 300m (EUR 75m). Taxpayers will also be burdened because the network was going to increase efficiency of CEPiK. The network is necessary to improve implementing data to the register. The system should reach full capacity in September 2006.

The tender was announced in the beginning of 2004. MSW had only PLN 70m at the beginning. After preliminary selection, 11 consortia were chosen and the tender was withheld for nearly a year. It was relaunched this summer. Only three offers were submitted - by TP telecom, Exatel with CrowlerDAta Poland and ATM as well as - probably - from Siemens, Netia and Energiz.
